Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

E-mail Print PDF

pcoc_300

All operators of any type of powered vessel will need their PCOC by September 15 of 2009.

Regulations state that you are required to carry the PCOC with you while operating any powered vessel and produce it when requested to do so by any law enforcement officer. They will also usually ask for some sort of photo ID. The fine for not carrying your PCO Card is $250 plus local expenses which can raise the amount to over $300.

There is no minimum age to get certified and no age exemption. The length of the boat does not matter, nor does the size of the engine. The PCOC card is good-for-life and is recognized across Canada and the US.
